In 2002, Natalie spent 6 months in Cape Town, South Africa. During that time, both of us became very fond of the people she was working with (Joe had semi-regular correspondence with her ministry mentor via email). After Natalie came home, God began birthing a deeper passion for the people of South Africa in our hearts.After several years of seeking God’s direction through prayer and wisdom from our various mentors, God made clear the path by which we were called to walk. Calling is an interesting thing, and what we have come to appreciate is the time and patience we took in discerning this calling. Today we stand firm on it, and believe that God is moving our family into a position of loving local leadership accurately through service and encouragement. We believe that we must come under the leadership of the locals if the kingdom will truly expand in South Africa. We believe that the American way is NOT the best way in other cultures, and at times, would question if it’s been the best way in the States as well.
