Tonight was a really interesting night. We were able to meet two different neighbors. There’s a young family across the street with a little girl Ezra’s age named Jessica. They seem like some really neat folks. Trevor, the husband, informed Natalie that they’re “not religious” after Natalie told him what we were doing in South Africa.
Then I met our next door neighbor, Dick.
Dick was standing on his roof, whistling for his… wait for it… pet pigeons.
Dick races pigeons for a hobby. Every night at 5 p.m., he releases over 250 pigeons into the sky and they “practice” over our whole block.
You expect to see things you’re not accustomed to when you move to a new country, but this was one of those things totally out of left field!
